We asked our brilliant Facebook community to recommend some of their favourite beaches that are open to dogs all year round.
Here are a few:
Oxwich beach near Swansea
This little gem was named ‘The most beautiful beach in Britain’ by The Travel Magazine, and the best bit… it’s open all year round for dogs!

Ogmore beach in South Wales
This dog friendly sand and pebble beach is open all year round for dogs to enjoy as well, and there’s apparently a pub nearby too!
West Angle beach, Pembrokeshire, Wales
We can’t see that there are any restrictions on this beautiful beach either, and that certainly makes this one happy…
Saunton beach in North Devon
As it says on their website; ‘Saunton is a hugely dog-friendly beach that welcomes waggy tails 365 days of the year, making it a perfect location to holiday with your dog.’
North Norfolk
We love this blog from Mutley and Tangle sharing four of their favourite dog friendly beaches in North Norfolk, but we couldn’t be sure they’re open all year round – perhaps you could let us know?
Fraisthorpe beach near Bridlington, East Yorkshire
‘It is very popular with dog walkers as there are no dog restrictions,
and has plenty of space to walk for miles in either direction, with the popular resort of Bridlington a 2 mile walk away.’

Horsey Beach, Norfolk
This one looks amazing, and during certain times of the year, there’s even a chance to see some seals! (Consider leaving your dogs at home during peak ‘seal season’ – try neighbouring dog-friendly beaches Waxham or Happisburgh instead) Find out more about Horsey and times of year to visit here.
Ganavan beach, Strathclyde
Wow! That’s a stunning dramatic coastline. We do love Scotland and think this beach looks great for four legs to run on.
Over on this website it says; ‘A few miles from Oban and nestled around the clear waters of Ganavan Bay is this splendid and scenic beach. The views stretch to the cragginess of the isles of Lismore and Mull and dogs are welcome all year round. ‘

Formby beach, Liverpool
Formby beach is owned by the National Trust, who welcome your four legged friends with an open beach – they also have these bits of information here to help everyone have the most enjoyable day out.
We’ve checked as best we can that these beaches are indeed open 365 days a year for dogs, but would recommend you check before travelling in case of any changes.
